The North San Diego Business Chamber elected Neal Manowitz, president and chief operating officer of Sony Electronics Inc., to its board of directors on Jan. 20.
As president and COO at the company’s headquarters in Rancho Bernardo, Manowitz is in charge of Sony Electronics’ operations in the United States and Canada. He has held various roles and responsibilities at Sony for 25 years.
Chamber officials said he brings to the chamber a strong global and local perspective and understands the impact Sony’s employees have on the region locally. His knowledge of the global market brings a perspective that the chamber can use to positioning itself for the future and to provide a stronger member experience.
“Neal’s strong background in technology, with expertise and knowledge in engaging closely with customers, will contribute to the chamber’s goal of growing our relevancy to future generations while providing exceptional service to members,” said Debra Rosen, the chamber’s president and CEO.
“It’s my honor to join the board and support the San Diego community in this role,” Manowitz said. “I look forward to working closely with the chamber to bring their vision and values to this vibrant community.”

Poway resident promoted to accounting firm partner
The accounting firm Lavine, Lofgren, Morris & Engelberg LLP has announced that Jeff Ewan of Poway has been promoted to partner.
Ewan has extensive experience providing tax services to individuals and a wide range of closely held businesses, including multistate entities, officials said in a statement. He has been with the firm since 2009.
“We are excited to welcome Jeff to the partnership,” said Lavine, Lofgren, Morris & Engelberg managing partner Scott Jablow. “The professionalism and leadership he has demonstrated over the last decade will continue to serve our firm and clients for many years to come.”
Active in the community, Ewan is currently a board member of Hillel of San Diego, where he serves as audit chair.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Accountancy degree from Miami University.

Southern California Rental Housing Association installs new officers
Lucinda Lilley has been reelected to serve a one-year term as president of the Southern California Rental Housing Association.
Lilley is vice president of FBS Property Management, AMO, which has an office in Rancho Bernardo.
Joining Lilley on the association’s 2022 board as officers are Abigail Rex (president-elect), Todd Henderson (vice president), Shannon Kelly (secretary); Aiesha Blevins (treasurer), Allison Pfister (legislative chair) and Kendra Bork (immediate past president).
New and returning board members include Jay Lopeman, Scott Ledesma, Buck Buchanan, Tom Tamar, Matt Ruane, Melissa Wickerd, Jennifer Ford, John LaRaia, Angela Zdroik, Natasha Howell, and Mark Feinberg.
