Russian general killed in Ukraine in ‘major demotivator’ to invading forces, per report

According to multiple reports, a top Russian general was killed by a Ukrainian sniper in a crucial blow to the Russian invasion.

Major General Andrey Sukhovetsky was the deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army of Russia’s Central Military District. He died yesterday while Ukrainians repelled a Russian offensive.

Russia has not confirmed Sukhovetsky’s death. However, one of his colleagues Sergey Chipilyov

announced on social media the Major General’s death.

Chipilyov, of the Airborne Forces Union of Russian Paratroopers, confirmed Sukhovetsky’s death on social media earlier today.

“With great pain, we received the tragic news about the death of our friend, Major-General Andrey Aleksandrovich Sukhovetsky, in Ukraine during a special operation,” Chipilyov posted.

“We express our deepest condolences to his family.”

Andrey Sukhovetsky was 47 and a highly decorated veteran appointed deputy army commander in October 2021.

Sukhovetsky commanded the 7th Airborne Assault Division in Novorossiysk for three years. He completed combat deployments in the Chechen war, Abkhazia, and the intervention in Syria.

Sukhovetsky’s death lifts the Ukrainian army and social spheres as another encouraging sign that the Russian invasion is not progressing as planned.

He was awarded two Orders of Courage, the Order of Military Merit and the Medal of Courage.

Yesterday, the Kremlin admitted that 498 Russian soldiers died and 1,600 are injured during the invasion.

However, Ukrainian armed forces claimed Russia’s army suffered around 9,000 casualties during the armed conflict.

Russia appears not making enough progress as planned. According to intelligence reports, Putin wants to take Ukraine in 15 days. Nevertheless, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that “all lines of defense are holding.”
