McLane Middleton announces annual award winners

PORTSMOUTH — The law firm of McLane Middleton is pleased to announce its annual award winners – Laura B. Dodge (Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Award), Laura M. Kahl (John A. Graf Client Service Award), and Catherine D. Allard and Katie Allard (John R. McLane Jr. Community Service Award).

The awards were presented at the firm’s recent Colleague Recognition Reception.

Laura Dodge was the recipient of the 17th annual Jack B. Middleton Pro Bono Legal Services Award for her outstanding commitment to serving citizens in need. McLane Middleton created the award in support of its efforts to help ensure that all New Hampshire residents, regardless of resources, have access to the justice system. Since the firm’s inception over a century ago, McLane Middleton has been a consistent leader in supporting the state’s most vulnerable constituents. The award is named after Jack Middleton, who has worked tirelessly for over 65 years giving back to those most in need. As the firm has grown into Massachusetts, its pro bono commitment has grown too, and now serves citizens of both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Laura Kahl was the recipient of the firm’s annual John A. Graf Client Service Award. The award is named in honor of a former partner in the firm who was relentlessly focused on solving his clients’ problems. The award is provided annually to the McLane Middleton attorney, paralegal, or administrative colleague(s) who exemplifies the highest level of client responsiveness and excellence in service based on colleague observations, peer reviews, and client recommendations. Cathy Allard and Katie Allard were co-recipients of the firm’s John R. McLane, Jr. Community Service Award. This annual award is given to the McLane Middleton attorney, paralegal, or administrative colleague who exemplifies the highest commitment to the community based on colleague observations and peer reviews. The award is named after former partner, John R. McLane, Jr., who had a long history serving the community. Cathy is a paralegal in the firm’s Trusts & Estates Department. Katie is a legal administrative assistant in the firm’s Trusts & Estates Department. Both are active members of the firm’s Community Service Committee.

Aquarion Water Company seeks nominations for Environmental Champion Awards

HAMPTON — The Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards recognizes individuals, businesses, and organizations across New Hampshire dedicated to environmental protection and sustainability. Now in its 9th year, the Environmental Champion Awards are an opportunity for environmental advocates to receive statewide honors for their work.

Winners in the Adult, Non-Profit Organization, and Business categories will have the opportunity to select an environmental non-profit to receive a $5,000 grant. The winner of the Student category (grades 9 to 12) will receive a $1,000 award.

“There are many organizations and individuals throughout New Hampshire dedicated preserving the state’s environment,” said Carl McMorran, Operations Manager, Aquarion Water Company of New Hampshire. “As Stewards of the Environment, Aquarion Water Company is proud to recognize them for their outstanding commitment to the Granite State’s natural resources.”

PORTSMOUTH – Service Credit Union announced they are once again partnering with the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival as the presenting sponsor of the 33rd annual event, taking place Friday, Sept. 9 to Sunday, Sept. 11 along Ocean Boulevard in Hampton Beach.

More than 50 of the top restaurants in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire will participate in the festival, in addition to 80 craft vendors and over a dozen bands and orchestras performing live. Additionally, event-goers will be treated to culinary demonstrations from the “Wicked Bites” TV show. It is the state’s largest seafood festival, and has drawn crowds of more than 100,000 in previous years.

As part of its sponsorship, Service Credit Union will give free tickets to active military personnel and veterans. Free festival wristbands are available to anyone providing an active military ID or evidence of service at any New Hampshire Service Credit Union branches while supplies last, beginning in summer 2022.
